How Our In-Home Consultations Differ
How Our In-Home Remodeling Consultations
Differ From The Average Run Around
When you begin remodeling your Lancaster, PA home… the LAST thing you want to be in is a hurry. And while you may not be excited about initial consultations and in-home meetings, they’re critical.
If you’re just getting started, can you get some specifics by filling out basic website forms on remodeling websites? Sure. We have lots of Informational Videos you can check out.
Can you get some decent answers to your questions by chatting with remodelers on the phone (assuming you can speak to more than just office staff)? Sure.
Is there quality information to swim through online? You bet. This kind of homework can only take you so far, though, because it’s somewhat convoluted, and there are so many variables to consider.
At some point, you need to have a professional come to your home to comb through the details with you.
At MBC Remodeling, this is one of the parts of the process we take seriously. We differ from the average everyday consultation because we aren’t interested in sales. We’re interested in you, your home, and what you’re setting out to achieve.
- We don’t send salespeople to your home.
- We don’t give product and materials lectures.
- We don’t dissuade you from what you want to try and get you into a small we-only-do-these-types-of-projects box.
- We don’t do most of the talking.
- We don’t waste your time!
- We don’t try and push certain brands.
That being said, what will be our focus when we meet with you?
Let’s dig in!
Your Vision Goals
First, we’re excellent listeners after decades in Lancaster County and this industry. Our consultant will want to get a clear idea of your vision for your home. For example, let’s say you’re interested in dynamic Kitchen Remodeling, here are some of the questions we might ask you:
- Are we opening the room with connected areas to increase your floor space?
- Are we making changes to improve the space’s overall efficiency?
- Are we getting this high-traffic area up to date and more functional?
- Are we adding more storage while building better visual appeal?
Often goals and visions conflict with reality. Or, your goals might require all kinds of construction-related details you aren’t aware of yet: electrical, plumbing, demolition, moving segments, creating new supports, etc.
Our job is to help fill in the details. Show you what’s possible and what it takes to get there; unfortunately, this isn’t feasible over the phone or the internet.
Showing You Who We Are

Defining Your Project Budget
The basic questions we’ll work with you to answer are going to be like these:
- What is your budget?
- How about appliances and fixtures?
- What is your time frame for completion?
- What materials and finishes would you like to have?
From here, we develop a scope of work and a project proposal. On the spot? No, our proposals are professional and detailed, sometimes up to 15 pages long and listing everything involved. Then we review it with you line by line and address any questions or concerns you might have.
